naruto | Back from the dead

It looks like

wafflelate has already beaten me to it, but look, with tumblr starting its slow implosion, that means I need to go somewhere else for my fannish needs, and this is the only halfway recent comm on dreamwidth for Naruto, so I'm going to yank this thing from the ashes with everything I've got. I hope some of you are left and still paying attention.

For starters, I'm theroadkillcafe, or Roadkill. I've been in fandom since at least 2003, and Naruto specifically since I don't know when. At least ten years. My favorite character to write about is Haruno Sakura, but I like or am ambivalent about most characters in the series. I write everything from PWP of varying levels of kink to multi chapter plotty fics. Other fandoms for me include Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, MCU, Supernatural, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, and more.

I don't know what else to include at the moment, but feel free to check out my journal. I will post about real life stuff, Naruto (fics and more meta-ish stuff), other fandoms and fannish things, knitting, and linguistics (particularly Japanese linguistics). At some point I'm going to start including posts of my own fics here, just to keep reminding you guys that this place exists and to get some chatter going again.

dreamingofsunshine but I'm still going to follow the heck out of this comm and try to help resurrect it, although unfortunately I don't write much strictly canon Naruto content.

Anyway, I'm frolic! I haven't been into Naruto for very long and basically got dragged into it backwards by Dreaming of Sunshine. My main Naruto fandom contribution is trying to document fannish Naruto stuff on Fanlore.org, so I read a lot of really hilariously old Naruto meta. My favorite is people's arguments about who Tobi is. If anyone wants semi-regular link roundups of Naruto meta from, like, 2007, I'm your prime source.

My journal will probably be 100% fic and meta because what else is there to life lmao.

Am I doing this right, or should I have poasted a new comment? Still getting used to dw. But I'm gonna miss all teh naruto salt on my tumblr dash, so if this is the place to get it...

Anyway: yeah DoS has eaten my brain but the wider Naruto fandom comes out with amazingggg things that I like to browse through. And I love all meta conversations.

I'm Pepper! I got into Naruto through Harry Potter crossovers, and I still haven't seen/read much of Naruto canon and hopefully it'll stay that way for a good while. I'm mostly in the Dreaming of Sunshine fandom.

Hi Pepper! It's good to have you. I've seen most of the Naruto canon (I consider only the manga canon, which does help to cut down on headaches some, lmao). DoS is such a lovely fandom to lurk in, very pleasant and it produces some great ideas/ficlets/meta/etc.

I'm Spiritualatheist! I got into Naruto about seven years ago and have been devouring the fanfic ever since. I got linked here by Waffle on the DOS discord. At this point, DOS is pretty much it for me in terms of Naruto Canon, but I look forward to changing that!

Hello, hello! I'm Issa, and I've been in the fandom for a good 7 years on and off. I dropped it sometime around the Fourth Shinobi World War, and I'm currently rereading it little by little. My favorite characters to read about are Naruto and Sakura, though not necessarily as a ship. I'm a multishipper, so I'm open to pretty much anything.

Heyyy someone in the comments who I don't know! :D Dropping in the middle of the 4th war seems like a huge mood.

And in the end, I never really finished Naruto because of all the spoilers I saw but I'm rereading it now and hoping I can finish it this time. Might get into Boruto also, the cast seems cute too.

I've been vaguely thinking about giving reading it a go. I know 100% I couldn't manage Boruto, though... I'm glad there are people who enjoy it but I'm already way too salty about all the spoilers I've seen to want to give that a go.

Okay, this probably makes me some kind of purist or something, but I only considered the original manga written by Kishi to be canon (to be changed as necessary because that is What Fanfiction Is For). I mean, between the novels, anime, and the games, there's at least three versions of Shisui's death floating around, because apparently the writers don't communicate with each other at all. So. *Shrugs*. No Boruto for me. And even if Kishi were writing Boruto the fact that it resurrects the problems of the original manga is really frustrating, especially when Kishi couldn't tie things up properly to begin with. Yes, I am very salty :P

Yeah, I wouldn't even consider Boruto the same fandom, tbh? I think people who are into Boruto just fundamentally want different things and approach Naruto in a different way from me.

I think the Fourth War arc lost a lot of people, lolol. I certainly had a time following it consistently, and I think there are mini arcs within it that I missed. It did take something like four years to complete a night long battle XD Nice to have you here Issa!

Oh god, did it really take four years? It's been a while since the last time I read Naruto, then. Hopefully marathon reading it will make it easier to understand lol.
